This is a young Indian woman, quite a modern woman pensive in thoughts. There has been a sea-change in the culture of India, however the culture of wearing saree is still in practice. Saree has been a favorite attire of Indian people, although it is highly complicated to wear and inconvenient to carry yourself in it. My model is a young woman in her mid-20s, sitting in the steps and thinking about her future.
I should share with you the story behind this painting. I usually do a rough color scheme of any painting and then I fill the presence and absence of light zones, but for this painting I did the color scheme in indoor with controlled light on it. Later when I had to develop I developed it in an open area with a lot of daylight falling on it. I was very confused with the color scheme I laid on it. Then I had to redo the color scheme and start everything from the scratch. After a lot of time I was able to attain the magic I was craving for.
